NEW ACQUISITION OFFICIAL -- June 27, 2005
Seven additional Burger Kings
purchased by Heartland Food Corp.
Heartland Food Corp., based in Downers Grove, IL, and multi-unit
franchisee of Burger King restaurants, announced today that it has purchased
seven stores in the greater Peoria and Bloomington, Illinois area.
The company paid an undisclosed sum to Drury Management, Inc. and
Drury-Illinois, Inc. for the rights to own and operate Burger King locations in
Central Illinois.
According to Jeff Rogers, CEO of Heartland Food Corp., "It is our
plan to initially invest over $1,200,000, in immediate remodeling, service
system upgrades and the overall dining experience in these restaurants," Rogers
said. "The 240 employees of our
seven stores are excited about the opportunity to have the financial and
operating support needed, to reach their full potential.
These units fit well in our organization, as we operate approximately
135 Burger Kings in the state of Illinois, both north and south of the greater
Peoria/Bloomington region."
Steve Wiborg, the COO of HFC, added, " We are excited about the
future potential of these markets.
We intend to successfully revitalize facilities, marketing, and service
techniques to earn back the strong customer base these Burger Kings once had,
just as we have accomplished in our other markets."
Heartland Food Corp. operates 220 Burger King units in Illinois,
Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, and North Carolina.
It has been recently recognized by the Burger King Chain as one of the
best franchisees in their system, winning the Brand Leadership Award for
2005.
